Lower Columbia estuary sturgeon fishery extended until Aug. 1
After a slow start the Lower Columbia River estuary sturgeon fishery will remain open daily through Aug. 1.
Sportsmen have caught about 3,900 sturgeon through July 11 with a catch guideline of 9,600.
Anglers are expected to catch 1,500 to 2,700 sturgeon in the 18 extra days, and fisheries officials will meet on July 29 to see if more dates are available to fish beyond Aug. 1.
