Father and son land memorable souvenir sportfishing off Cabo San Lucas
Cabo fishing has been good again this week, and the marlin bite has been on.
The big story for the week is Jerry Smith of Caldwell, N.J., and his son Jerry, who on July 17 went out for an impromptu day of sportfishing aboard Picante’s 24-foot Shamrock, Picantito III.

Deeter: Don't Complain, Just Walk Farther
I don't have a problem with fishing near people I don't know. Crowded rivers don't really bother me. Not my first choice, for sure, but I like to make a game out of busy situations, and see if I can hook fish that someone else has passed over and missed.

Cermele: The Benefits of Largemouth on the Dark Side
It's a sad but true fact that there are no public lakes or ponds in close range of my home that offer really good bass fishing. Some used to, but you know the game...within a few years everybody and their mother knows about every little pond (thanks Google Earth) and you end up with stunted fish or a few bigger ones that have seen it all.

Saltwater king salmon fishery soap opera still worth going through all the drama
What was good king fishing today might not be the case tomorrow, and that is the soap opera of trying to catch these migrating salmon off the coast, and in the Strait of Juan de Fuca down into Puget Sound.

RFA: President's executive order could restrict angler access
Washington, DC - President Barack Obama used his presidential privilege on July 19 to circumvent the legislative process, signing a new ocean protection law that's vastly similar to legislation which has languished in Congress for nearly a decade.

Irvine Lake catfish active; angler scores whiskerfish Grand Slam
Catfish anglers at Irvine Lake dominated the action this week, reported Jimmy Getty at the Pro Shop. "The catfish bite has been decent most nights, and right after the thunderstorm it was really good," observed Getty
